Bonjour grade 2F parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

 

This week the students worked on:

French: Dictée (corrections from last week as well as the new dictée) et Pré-dictée le son u. I also read to them a story, we then went over who, what, where, when and how. Then I asked the students to write about the story we just read by referring to my notes on the board as well as the word wall. This was a brief evaluation to see how much detail the students could incorporate in their writing. We also worked specifically on les noms propres in their grammar books.

Science: We continued talking about Liquids and solids and gas. I reviewed the last bit of gases with them and asked them to write about 1 thing that stood out to them the most about gasses. We also did a review in class in order for me to see how much the students understood and on, they will have their official evaluation.

Social Studies: We talked about communities, rural, suburban and urban. I then had the students draw details of each community on a piece of paper having them describe what they looked like and what the importance of each community was.

Religion: We continued reading chapter 3 and talked about important and memorable stories we share at home with the family and what is one of the most important ones that they remember either growing up hearing about or that they had with their family.

Math: Counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We did different activities within the classroom to ensure the students knew how to count by each of them followed by activity sheets for practice.

 

Reminder:

Homework: We have had much practice within the classroom in science and we also completed a practice test at school today and on Tuesday, they will have their evaluation on this unit.

Dictée correction if there are any.

Please continue having your kids read books in order to practice their French language.

Bonjour grade 2F parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

 

This week the students worked on:

French: Dictée (corrections from last week as well as the new dictée) et Pré-dictée les on e et eu. We began story writing and the students made a beautiful piece on what they thought about the autumn season. We also worked on reading comprehension and the students are still working on their take home reading program.

Science: We continued talking about Liquids and solids and gas. We learned about icebergs and how the melting process and the freezing process happens. They learned about where the icebergs can be located in Canada as well as their North, South, East and West.

Social Studies: We talked about communities, rural, suburban and urban. We looked at the differences in each community (transportation, access to things and lifestyle.

Religion: We did our first practice test together. The students learned how we answer the questions on a practice test. We also continued talking about making right choices and putting things as a priority.

Math: Missing numbers on a number line and how we determine them by counting by 2, 5 and 10. They also worked with cubes and buttons to determine each missing number.

 

Reminder:

Homework: Dictée will be on Monday.

Reading program book will also be due on Monday. Please assure your child has answered the questions with full sentences and has added much detail. They will need to have clean writing, capital letters and period at the end of the sentence.   The books are a bit more challenging which will give them the opportunity to write a lot more by answering the question that has been given to them.

Bonjour grade 2F parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

 

This week the students worked on:

French: Dictée (corrections from last week as well as the new dictée) et Pré-dictée, we continued read a poem “Les souliers neufs” and we continued working on les noms in their grammar textbook.

Science: We continued talking about Liquids and solids, we did experiments in class and wrote the results and the predictions in our journal.

Social Studies: We talked about classroom zones and how to expect to feel in each zone. We brainstormed ideas and then I had the students write down one thing that they learned about the zones.

Religion: We talked about making choices and what are right choices as in completing homework before watching television. We also worked on our Paraliturgies as well as our mass readings this week the students did an amazing job and I am so proud of all of them.

Math: We started a new chapter – counting in 2’s, 5’s, 10’s and up to 100.

Reminder:

Homework: The students are encouraged this week to read their books that they brought from the library please make sure they are practicing and reading the full book in order to have them strengthen their French language.

We have library every Thursday if you could please make sure your child has their book as well as their bag to put the book in because it is generally raining out now and we want to make sure the books aren’t getting wet.

I also sent a High tech High touch form a new days ago if you could please sign it and have your child bring it back if they have not yet that would be wonderful.

If they have not brought back their Walkathon sheets, please have them bring everything to me by Monday if possible.

Recycling Competition

* Our Lady of Fatima is having a recycling competition. Please recycle all of your bottles from home and bring in the receipt via your child’s folder. The class that has the most money via receipts will get a pizza party and all of the money will go directly into buying resources for the school. More information can be found in the Communique.

Bonjour grade 2F parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

 

This week the students worked on:

French: Dictée (corrections from last week as well as the new dictée) et Pré-dictée (c dur), we continued read a poem “Les souliers neufs” and we worked on the pages to follow. They also continued the reading program with parent volunteers in the class so they had the opportunity to read a book and discuss what happened in the book. We also continued working on les noms in their grammar books.

Science: We continued talking about Liquids and solids, we talked about the importance of water for all living things. We did experiments in class with ice melting – how long does it take to melt and once they were done with their prediction and result of the experiment, they wrote in their journals on what they have learned.

Social Studies: We talked about classroom zones and how certain actions will cause us to react in certain ways either to be in the green zone – happy or in the red zone – angry. We discussed words that belong to each zone and what are certain ways to avoid being in the red zone. They then wrote in their journal the top words that they feel match the specific zones.

Religion: We worked on our paraliturgy that will be coming up next week on Thursday and continued to read about beautiful creations.

Math: les regularités- We continued working on pattern, practiced then I had students create their own patterns.

Homework: Dictée – on Tuesday morning C dur please have them study and prepare for the spelling test.

Bonjour grade 2F parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

This week the students worked on:

French: Dictée (corrections from last week as well as the new dictée) et Pré-dictée, we continued read a poem “Les souliers neufs” and we worked on how and when to rhyme in a poem. They also started the reading program with parent volunteers in the class so they had the opportunity to read a book and discuss what happened in the book. We also continued working on les noms in their grammar books.

Science: We continued talking about Liquids and solids, we talked about the importance of water for all living things. We worked on vocabulary words that describe liquids, solids or both liquids and solids. After our little water experiment, they wrote it in their journals what happened once the water was poured in different sized glasses.

Social Studies: We talked about community, how it is important and what kinds of things do we do to help the community grow as well as function. We also talked about what things give us happiness tied to desires and wants. The students had the opportunity to realize that not always things that are expensive and big bring them happiness sometimes it is the little things that do.

Religion: We worked on what are creations of God and how do we use these creations in our lives. They then picked two words that described specific images of the creations of God and wrote it in their journals.

Math: les regularités- We continued working on patterns and began doing many examples in order to have the students understand the process of finding continuous patterns.

 

Reminder:

Homework: I have given the students a “ticket-out-the-door” acitivity again for this weekend. If they can write full sentences and be specific on what subject as well as what topic was the most interesting to them. Please have them include capital letters as well as a period at the end of the sentence.  

I have also asked the students to bring one rock that they find outside that they feel is the best one. We will be reading a book and doing an activity with this rock on Monday.

Bonjour grade 2F parents, I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

 

This week the students worked on:

 

French: Dictée (corrections from last week as well as the new dictée) et Pré-dictée, we continued activities with les noms propres et les noms communs –supplementary activities as well as a story that I read to them in class and they wrote 1 thing they liked the most about the story at home. We then corrected them in class the following day.

Science: We continued talking about Liquids and solids, I introduced Gas to them and what things were tied to all three. We then talked about water and how putting them in different sized vases and cups will all expand differently even if it is the same amount of water.

Social Studies: Les droits et les responsabilités. We talked about what are needs in life and what are desires. They received pictures and they had to place each one in either needs or desires. We then discussed where each one went and had a debate because some students would put an image in needs and others in desires. They had to explain why they felt it went in that specific section. This activity was done in table groups of 3 or 4.

Religion: We worked on prayer and intentions as well as talked about David and his poems and psalms. We talked about God’s creations and how we should respect them and then I had the students write in their journals 3 things they thank God for in French.

Math: les regularités- We worked with cubes and I asked the students to make a pattern with the different colored cubes they had. We then continued with activities from their math workbooks.

 

Reminder:

Homework: I have given the students a “ticket-out-the-door” acitivity for this weekend. They will have to write in French 2 things they learned this week. They also have one French book from the library if they could practice reading it with you that would be wonderful.  

Thanksgiving food hampers – I will be keeping a bucket in my classroom until they get picked up on September 30th. If you have any (canned tuna, canned salmon, mayonnaise or canned lunch meat) for the kids to bring with them to school that would be wonderful.

Sept 12- Sept 15

Bonjour grade 2F parents,

I hope everyone had a wonderful week. This week, I was very sick and had to go to the hospital on Monday. I am beginning to feel better now and with some rest over the weekend I am hoping to be back to normal by Monday.

This week, the class was very fortunate to have Mrs. Crosmann come in as their substitute teacher. She was great with them and the kids loved working with her. She did many different activities as well as taught them many new things.

 

This week the students worked on:

 

French: Dictée et Pré-dictée, les noms propres et les noms communs – la grammaire c’est mon affaire workbook pg. 1 et 2. Le verbe avoir

Science: They learned new scientific words related to liquids vs. solids and did an activity with ice, how it melts what are ways to make it melt faster. Brainstorm – what are liquids in the class? What are solids in the class?

Social Studies: Les droits et les responsabilités. Right and responsabilities : the students came up with rights and responsabilities they would have at school, at home etc.

Religion: “About your faith” & “About you” – they had class discussions as well as prayer

Math: les regularités- they worked on activity sheets to enhance their understanding as well as the math workbook.

 

Reminder:

Homework: I have given the students a little math activity to do in their journal book. If they can please complete it for Monday.

Friday September 16th – No school

If you have not handed in the handouts that were given last week for walkathon, IPad, field trips and release form please hand in for Monday.
