Take home folders

Please make sure that you are checking your child’s folder daily and removing the items in there. Many of the children still have their Gift from God books in there which we have completed and can remain at home.

Unless items are asked to be returned everything should be emptied out of your child’s folder daily.

Also please make sure you return your child’s report card cover and envelope to me this week. You are to keep the papers inside.

Thank you

Writing Practice

We are working very hard at practicing our sentence structure and writing at school now.

I will read the sentence out loud for them and they need to sound out the words, remember the sight words, use meatball spaces, upper case at the beginning of the sentence and a period at the end of the sentence. We also need to use the proper lowercase letters!

Here are today’s sentences that we worked on :

I see my dad.

The cat is fat.

I see you.

To help your child with their writing practice these sentences at home and I will post other sentences we practice in class as well. :)

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break!

We are all back to work now and have a busy road ahead of us these next and final few months of Kindergarten. In your child’s folder I sent home the Sight Words program yesterday. Please make sure you look and read ALL the material that is provided in order to help your child start this program. If you have any questions about this program please send me an email or see me after school so I can help you out.

I will not be starting to asses the children in the class on these sight words until Thursday April 6th. This will give you enough time to start practicing the words with your child.

This week we are working on the letter Y and starting a few new units including Measurement in Math, the season Spring, Lent, and Caterpillars and Butterflies!

Today we had a presentation on Hand Washing where we learnt how to wash our hands properly and why it is important. Ask your child what song they need to sing when washing their hands! (Hint…it is in the booklet they brought home)

Tomorrow we have our Lenten Paraliturgy at 11am with the school and Friday we will have Mass. Please make sure your child has their sweater for both these events.

Happy Spring Break and 100 day!

Today we celebrated 100 Day!

Here are some of the activities we did today:

-created 100 day hats

– made colorful ‘sometimes food’ necklaces

– built structures out out 100 red cups

-counted to 100 by 10’s

-did 100 exercises!

-drew 100 gumballs

and of course we made healthy pizza’s that looked like the number 100! Wow what a busy day!

We also finished off our Gift from God program. There is one more family lesson to complete so please make sure you do so over Spring Break with your child.  Once completed you may keep the books at home, we no longer need them.

Have a happy safe and restful Spring Break!

See you all on March 27th.
