Pick up and drop off

Just wanted to send a reminder to all parents regarding picking up and dropping off Kindergartens.

Please ensure that when dropping off in mornings that you walk down your child to the Kindergarten doors. This is especially important when the bell has already rung and they are late as they do need to get a late slip from the office and should not be doing this alone. For the safety of your child, you MUST bring your child to the Kindergarten classroom when you are arriving late.

If  your Kindergarten has an older sibling, they are allowed to walk them down from the pick up area ONLY when school has not yet begun. Again, if the bell has already rung, then you must be walking your Kindergarten to the classroom regardless of them having an older sibling.

Thank you for your co-operation and please remember this is for the safety of your child.

Belvedere and Literacy Week

Easter at Belvedere

Today we had the great pleasure of attending Belvedere to take part in Easter games, races and even and Easter Egg Hunt! We met the Easter bunny and had a great time ! As a special treat we got to take home cookies too. We also made cards for the seniors at Belvedere as they took so much time to organize and set up a great event for us.

Literacy Week

Next week we will be taking part in Literacy Week with the entire school. Our theme is Superheros ! I am asking any parents to send in a cape if your child has one at home. This is for a project we will be doing on Monday. If you don’t have one no problem I will have a few extra :)

Home Reading

Today I have sent home a Home Reading Package. Please read the letter inside and email me if you have any questions. Also I ask that you please keep these books in the plastic bag at all times as these are our classroom books and can not be replaced if lost or damaged.

Sight Words

We have begun our sight word assessments this week and the students are doing great! I encourage you to continue practicing at home as the children are becoming more and more excited about reading! New lists have been sent home to those children who have mastered at least 80-90% of the words.

Sight Words

Today your child will be bringing home a pink list of sight words. These words have been taught in class and are continuously being reviewed. Please take the time to review these words daily as we are using them to write and read in class.

We will be adding more words to the list so try to keep on top of practicing them :)

Take home folders

Please make sure that you are checking your child’s folder daily and removing the items in there. Many of the children still have their Gift from God books in there which we have completed and can remain at home.

Unless items are asked to be returned everything should be emptied out of your child’s folder daily.

Also please make sure you return your child’s report card cover and envelope to me this week. You are to keep the papers inside.

Thank you

Writing Practice

We are working very hard at practicing our sentence structure and writing at school now.

I will read the sentence out loud for them and they need to sound out the words, remember the sight words, use meatball spaces, upper case at the beginning of the sentence and a period at the end of the sentence. We also need to use the proper lowercase letters!

Here are today’s sentences that we worked on :

I see my dad.

The cat is fat.

I see you.

To help your child with their writing practice these sentences at home and I will post other sentences we practice in class as well. :)
